Clinical Herbal Apprenticeship Program

The apprentices who finalized their apprenticeship at the end of 2025 class are starting their wellness practices!

Wild Roots is pleased to have been part of the herbalism journey for the following herbalists. These individuals completed our apprenticeship program in December 2025. Each of them in on their wellness journey and are starting to see clients of their own. Wild Roots also benefits from their continuing volunteering as their schedules allow.

  • Melissa Bailey - Melissa has 17 years experience as a board-certified diagnostic medical sonographer. Here commitment to whole person-wellness led her to herbalism. She is a graduate of the North Star Herbal Studies 2-year program with additional advanced clinical herbal eduction in assessment, Traditional Chinese Medicine, materia medica, case analysis, and herbal formulation. Melissa’s clinical experience includes an internship at Oak Leaf Herbal in addition to Wild Roots. She is opening her own practice at Leaf & Sol Herbal Clinic where she will see adults and children.   • Nejo Gentry - Nejo is a registered nurse with more than 22 years of caring for patients. Her approach to healthcare incorporates Western medicine with her knowledge of herbs, herbal energetics, and Chinese medicine. She became interested in how herbs, nutrition, lifestyle, and traditional healing practices can support wellness of the whole person rather than individual symptoms. She has completed the North Star Herbal Studies 2-year program as well as its advanced herbal education program. Nejo has created Seeded Remedy (www.seededremedy.com) to provide a welcoming space with the goal of making herbalism understandable and practical to empower people to take an active role in their wellness.

Wild Roots welcomes our newest cohort of apprentices

Wild Roots People’s Clinic kicked off its exclusive 16 month Clinical Herbal Apprenticeship on February 28, 2026. We are grateful to and excited for our newest cohort of herbalists.

This immersive, hands-on program will provide the experience to allow these apprentices to learn, grow, and develop their herbalism and client servicing skills.

Program Benefits

  • In-Person, Hands-On Learning
    Gain practical experience in herbal medicine through live case studies, client interactions, and real-world practice with experienced herbalists.

  • Estimated 50+ Hours of Direct Client Contact*: Build valuable clinical experience with approximately 30 clients, beginning your path toward meeting the American Herbalist Guild’s Registered Herbalist membership criteria. Client hours will vary based on the number of clients who attend each clinic.

  • Case Studies & Follow-Ups
    Engage in multiple in-depth case studies and follow-up sessions to enhance your diagnostic skills and understanding of client care.

  • One-on-One Mentorship
    Benefit from consistent mentorship with seasoned herbalists, receiving guidance and personalized feedback.

  • Certificate of Completion
    Acknowledge your dedication, skills, and number of clinical hours spent with a certificate upon successful completion.

  • Path to Further Opportunities
    Exceptional graduates may continue clinical work with Wild Roots People’s Clinic, gaining more client hours toward AHG requirements and furthering your herbal career.
